God is at the helm of The Old Ship Zion! The definition of helm is, "the steering gear of a ship, especially the tiller or wheel. A position of leadership or control: at the helm of His church."
A ship is made to take people somewhere. Elder Ballard taught, “Our ship’s destination is the full blessings of the gospel, the Kingdom of Heaven, the Celestial Glory, and the presence of God.” We need to do our part and work together, because ships need taken care of and repaired at times. We weren't designed to be stagnant, to just enjoy the ride once we got on the ship, but to improve, learn, help each other, and get back home to God! We can't make it back by jumping out and doing it all on our own.
Given the challenges we all face today, how do we stay on the Old Ship Zion?
*God gave us Families!
*God gave us The Sabbath Day - a delight (Click here to print a 'bucket list' of Sabbath activities)
*God gave us Scriptures which provide a map of where we came from, why we are here and where we're going.
*God gave us Living Prophets (imperfect human beings, striving to do God's will.) We should try to see God’s hand working through those He has called.
